CRA’s Greatest Show:

This years talent show was a success! It was so much fun performing, decorating, and planning! How did it all start, you may ask? Well, last year as the vice president, I wanted to create a talent show. That was my big goal/ project for student council! However, I didn’t realise how much work it would take. With the help of the talent show committee (Mrs.Imler, Mrs.Van Leeuwen, Mrs.Smallwood, and Mrs. O’Brien), we started planning and prepping. First, we had to decide the theme; this meant we were choosing decorations, food for concession stands, costumes (for MC’s), and posters. Last years theme was “CRA’s Got Talent”, and this year it was “CRA’s Greatest Show”, which was inspired by The Greatest Showman, so we had a carnival theme.  I knew that I couldn’t do all of this alone, so I recruited as many people as possible for the student talent show committee. I made the playbills, formatted the candy grams, made sure everyone was where they needed to be (backstage), made sure we had decorations up, and created the MC script. The talent show committee created posters to advertise the talent show, helped find decorations, folded every single one of the playbills (200!), printed/cut the candy grams, and helped direct performers on stage/ moved all the props or they worked at the concession stands out front. I am so glad that everything went smoothly, and we were able to overcome all the small problems that we faced. If you’re thinking about performing in the talent show next year, I say go for it! For any of you that may join the talent show committee, good luck and remember that the outcome will be worth it!

This year was my first year performing in the talent show, and it couldn’t have gone better. I had a blast! Everyone put so much work into the show, and it all paid off. It was the best feeling being on the stage with all the lights and everyone cheering for us. For the talent show my friend Avalon and I decided we wanted to do this blanket dance that we had seen online before. We recruited Avalon’s sister, Sunshine and her friend Kate. Instead of just copying the dance, we decided to make up our own dance and add a little spice to it.

6th Grade!

October 16, 2018,  the sixth graders went on their first field trip of the year. They traveled to the California Science Center in Los Angeles to see the King Tut exhibit. On this field trip, the students got to see what Egyptians wore, how archaeologists found tombs, and they even got to see real mummies in their tombs!
