A few weeks ago, one of the most prestigious competitions went down in Maui, Hawaii. The Jaws Invitational is well known for its big wave surfing with waves being as tall as 60 feet. If that isn’t as intimidating to you, think about it like this; If you fall on one of these massive waves, the amount of pressure from that much water is around 2,460 tons, which is why these pro surfers wear impact vests to protect them from the blow. These massive waves can hold people down for around 2 minutes and, after that time, you might be hit with another 2-minute hold down. All danger aside, the winner of this year’s Jaws Invitational was Billy Kemper for the 4th year, followed by Ian Walsh and Nathan Florence.
