The Akita dog breed, related to the Shiba Inu breed, is a very courageous, loyal, and powerful dog. Inu means dog in Japanese so for instance there is the Akita Inu, It means Akita dog.  Akita’s weigh around 100 pounds, and are quiet, except when it notices intruders. The Akita Inu is bred to be a guard dog,  the Japanese breed them to propagate it. So the Akita is a rather calm dog but when it notices intruders it can be loud. Akita’s are Japan’s entry in the ancient canine clan of spitz-type dogs bred around the world on the globe’s northern latitudes. The breed as we know it was developed in the early 17th century in the Akita prefecture of northern Japan. The Akita is a large breed of dog originating from the mountainous regions of northern Japan. There are two separate varieties of Akita: a Japanese strain, commonly called Akita Inu, or Japanese Akita and an American strain, known as the Akita or American Akita. Akita’s can come in, white, brindle, fawn, pinto, and red. Akita’s usually live 10-15 years.

A female Akita’s height can be, 24–26 inches (61–66 cm), And a male Akita’s height can be, 26–28 inches (66–71 cm.)

A female Akita’s weight can be,  71–99 lbs (32–45 kg), When a male Akita’s weight can be, 99–130 lbs (45–59 kg.)

So if you’re looking to get a fun, loyal, playful dog you should get an Akita! Akita’s are family dogs and they will not hesitate to attack intruders.
