4th Grade’s Field Trip to the Mission

We recently interviewed the 4th graders about their field trip to the San Juan Capistrano Mission. In October, they went there to get a realistic perspective on how a mission works. We asked them about some of their favorite parts of the trip, and how that can help them with their mission. That’s right! I said the 4th graders are creating a 22nd mission! Although it will not be built in real life, it is a wonderful hands-on alternative to textbook knowledge. 4th grade must create a mission that can support the lives of both humans and livestock, while arguing that their group’s mission should be the next. Oh yeah! They will have to present and convince an audience that their mission is the one that should make it. Super cool, right? What’s even cooler is the inside scoop! When interviewing  4th graders from Ms.Mease’s class, we got to know all about their trip to the mission. Here’s what Gwen answered.

 

What was your favorite part of the Field Trip?

Gwen: Learning about the mission history.

What is one thing that you can implement into your mission?

Gwen:  Definitely a kitchen.

What is the most important thing to have in a mission in your opinion?

Gwen: A watch tower!

What was the funnest thing you did at the mission?

Gwen: Made adobe bricks!

 

 When interviewing Mazi, he said that he really loved the trip. Mazi had fun learning and participating in many activities and learning new facts at the mission. Here are his responses;

What was your favorite thing you learned on the field trip?

Mazi: Learning about the missions history.

What was one thing you could add to your mission?

Mazi: A church.

In your opinion what is the most important thing for a mission to have?

Mazi: An area for livestock.

What was your favorite activity on the field trip?

Mazi: Making adobe bricks.
